4x4 DOSE NOT LOCK
l have a lr3 2006 just got it, but! when l change to a diferent setting like rock & gravel and then low, on the screen it shows 2 locks only the middle 1 locks (gos red) but the back 1 stays open (green) is this normal????
The rear "locker" is much more sophisticated than anything you are probably used to. It is most unlikely you will ever see it go red.
You will have to spend lots of time reading on the various forums how the 4x4 traction system including the optional E differential actually works.
Look under the LR3 Miscellaneous set of files per the link below for a jpg of the E Diff which most vehicles do not have and to much surprise, the fact it is missing is not a big deal as the software LR uses resolves much of the concern and with lots fewer maintenance issues.

If you're new to Rovers you may want to invest a couple of hundred dollars in an inspection by a local independent where at least you know what you have let yourself in for. Bit late if you already bought it but helps with the cold sweats and panic attacks ;-)
That is a new "bit" to me. It appears to be connected to a pair of conductors? Where exactly did you find it hanging?
It may be something to do with a previous owner installed something or it may be a Land Rover part.
I noted something like numbers written on it or a brand name. Normally most of the Land Rover bits have either a Ford or Land Rover logo or some sort of five to ten alpha numeric part number molded on it.
