Exclamation Adding Navi to 2006 SE with nothing

Ladies/Gents,

Did a search here and the closest topic is from 2009 so I am sure a lot has changed in the past 12 years.
I just got a very nice well maintained 2006 SE V8 but no Navi, just that 'hole'/'space' in the dashboard. I am wondering what others have done to add a nice unit like Kenwood/Pioneer/Alpine that would fit there and bring all the tech available today to the car.
Plan is to leave the current radio as it is and if possible plug a new one, installed on that space, to the AUX of the existing one (I assume there is an AUX). If this is not possible, what is the best approach? If I remove the existing radio, do I lose anything?
Just wondering what the options are.

Cheers.

CR

Look on Aliexpress, there are units made that fit that space perfectly and hook into the factory harness for a factory look.

Interesting! As I am picking up the car on Saturday I am not 100% sure if it has the MOST network. I assume not as it is a simple V8 SE 5-seater. In that case if I replace the stock radio, would I lose anything? These Chinese units I have no idea how good they are and the Pioneer NEX seems like a good alternative from a well-known brand. Wondering if anyone used a NEX unit on the LR3.

nearly a perfect fit if you are only going for navigation (not my build but plan on doing it eventually). Can get them used or refurb'd for under $100

You most likely dont have an optic system so replacing the head unit you will only loose the clock in the dash, probably 95% of head units are made in Asia so origin is no issue really.
My CD player died so i just fitted a 7"android unit.
