Anyone have a lead on 4.0l V6 for LR3?
Hello from Los Angeles. Second Rover for me, picked a white 2006 LR3 up as a project.
Timing chain guide failure at 130,000 left a hole in the #5 piston. I assume head, block and crank are not salvageable. Would love to hear otherwise! Is it worth taking the block to a machine shop or would that be a waste of money? Any forum wisdom? Already watching eBay and car-part. Yesterday, I ran over to the two salvage places near me. Unfortunately, not that common of a motor.
Would consider anything from running to remanufactured.
Was hopeful that I could use a Ford motor, but told those that tried couldn't get the check engine light to go off. Likely due to crank sensor. Tried to understand, but apparently slight difference in the block. Couldn't find and good details after days of searching.
Otherwise, would like to purchase good running motor to get her back on the road.
Thanks!
Update: pulled the trigger on a motor from LKQ in Bakersfield. Having it installed next week.
