Brake issues almost killed my wife.
When ABS kicks in, due to over-breaking traction, stopping distance will increase.
That said, I have not experienced this, however I have read of one other complaint of EBA causing longer then normal braking distances, which could have a few different causes(failing pre-charge pump, air in the system) I would get it checked out by a professional if you are sure that it is not normal ABS activation that is causing the extended braking situation.

Thanks for the help.
Actus: "almost killed" is still inflammatory considering no impact was even realized. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad about that...but "nearly crashed" is more accurate than "nearly killed" don't you think? ...and your test sounds interesting but it's still uncontrolled. You were the only driver and there was only one LR3 involved. What can really be concluded? I appreciate your racing background; I have an Engineering background, and this sort of test would not be enough in my world.
I note that it is very easy to inadvertently have ones right foot on both the brake pedal and the gas pedal as the same time.
All one has do is inadvertently tilt ones foots a bit and it catches the gas pedal. When I do this, my 3 does not stop so well - the harder I push, the less my 3 wants to stop.

Can we expect the braking system to work correctly without inspecting the component parts, ie: flushing brake fluid, check the pads and rotors (factory ones often only go 20k) and so on. Conjecture will always be put to rest with facts.
Consider EBC or Brembo pads / rotors in my opinion when it's time.
The other consideration might be wheel sensors, etc. or perhaps a comparison with a similarly equipped vehicle so you can determine if there is a difference.
