Default Brake light

Greetings gents. I replaced all four brake rotors and pads on my 05 yesterday. I replaced the brake wear sensors as well. The yellow dash "break" is still on although the annoying chime has stopped. Does it take a tech to clear the fault...assuming there is one? I double checked everything and all seems well.

Or, can I wire the pad sensors together to trick it?

It's not a huge deal having the light on. Thank god the every 2 second chime has gone away.

Do you get a message that says the brake pads are worn?
Are they factory sensors? I have seen aftermarket sensors not read correctly.
Also, make sure none of the pins got bent during installation. The pins in the connector are very thin and bend easily when being installed.
Lastly, turn the key to position II (ignition on) without starting and leave there for 30-60 seconds. Light should go out if all is good.

The worn pad message is gone along with the chime. The sensors were from Atlantic British and not OEM. I will double check everything again and try the key thing as well. Could I just cut the sensor off and wire the two leads together?

Default try to avoid doing that

The sensors are pretty reliable for the most part. At the same time, I think most vehicles do not have them, certain the cheap vehicles do not, so brake pad wear sensors are not a must have.

A few months back my two month old factory rear sensor broke, (or something like that), and had to be replaced, but that is about the only problem I have had other than routine replacment with new pads. I have about 120,000 miles on my 3.

I guess I would try to resolve the problem but it is a fuss.

I don't know if you already tossed the old brake wear sensor, but if you still have it, you might want to take that one and splice the wires together, then connect it. This way, you can make sure that it is the wear sensor cable that is giving you the problem and not something else... and you won't be ruining (what might be) a perfect good, new wear sensor cable.
