Default Brake Line Routing Question

Hi guys

I just finished replacing front lower control arm, front sway bar end links, steering tie rods, rear upper control arms, rear sway bar end links and bushings on my 2006 LR3. I took it to the nearest place for an alignment which was a Firestone, while I was there I asked if they could do a brake fluid flush. They did, and now I think I have a leak in a brake line.

Going off this diagram (which I found in another LR3 thread) It looks like the lines from the front of the truck run down the drivers side frame rail to where the split for each rear brake. I noticed fluid leaking from above the air reservoir, but I could track the lines after they went into the transmission tunnel. So I'm hoping someone can tell me whether the brake lines run directly over the reservoir or just inside the frame rail or something?

With all the work I just did to it I'm really hoping for some good news and not have to tear back into it!

Thanks in advance!

Hi again!

Looks like I answered my own question. With some more googling and crawling further under the truck. I found the brake lines protected by the exhaust heat shield just inside the driver's side frame rail.
They look a little corroded but not leaking. My guess about the leak over the reservoir is run off from a spill at the brake fluid reservoir. Hopefully this is a bullet dodged!

That diagram is not for an LR3, not by a long shot. And there should be no way brake fluid at the reservoir got down to the EAS reservoir. I guess keep an eye on things, there should be nothing tat can leak above that take except maybe the AC lines.

The brake lines run on the inside of the frame, and the drip you are showing is the outside of the frame. For me, they leaked towards the back near each of the hubs. Here's a picture from my differential and fuel tank shield install showing the underside, looking backwards, with everything normally in the way removed: drive shaft, differential, exhaust, and exhaust heat shields removed. You can see the pair of brake lines in the upper right corner of the frame, including the union coupler from the repair. And that's the old open differential on the pavement.
