The front sensor is difficult to replace because it is recessed behind the wheelwell and can only be changed by feel. The rear one is not hidden and is much easier to change. If possible, I'd recommend changing the rear one first to get a feel for what needs to be done when you later go in blind on the front one.

I need to do a brake job. It seems the main concern is the rear where the e-brake is. I have the pads and was going to have the rotors turned. My main concern here is the parking brake adjustment. On every other car I've ever owned, this is not a problem. It appears the adjustment on this vehicle is pretty sesitive. Is this a procedure that is something a fairly experienced backyard mechanic should attempt? How do I know if I have it right. I have the procedures from Alldata, although I will have to poke around to find the pieces they refer to. Is there an indicator letting you know if you have entered maintenance mode properly?

Default Rotors

Is it allways necessary to reserface the rotors when replacing the front pads?

I've read that the rotors are not meant to be resurfaced because they are already pretty thin. Resurfacing could lead to warping under heavy brake use. I changed my rotors when I changed my brakes around 60k miles.

OK, here's what I'm faced with. I went in to my local guys (Network Allignment) and they said the front rotors are out of spec and need to be relplaced ($334.00). The rear pads are also shot but the rotors can be reserfaced. Their total quote (pads front and rear, front rotors, sensors and labor) came to $760.70. I found the rotors partsgeek.com for $54.51 each plus $20.00 shiping. If Network will install the rotors I get online it would bring my total to around $560.00. http://www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/...ek+Google+Base

Any advise??

From what I remember, I paid about $500 for front and rear pads, front and rear rotors, and both sensors, all purchased from Atlantic British. I then changed everything myself. If you have ever done brakes and rotors on another vehicle, then you should be able to change them out on the LR3 as well. There isn't anything different or unusual about the LR3's brakes. The brake sensors are a bit brittle, so be careful when pulling them out; they only need to be changed if the brake change light has lit up on the instrument cluster. If you do a search on this forum or the other Land Rover forums, you will definitely find instructions on how to do the change yourself.
