Default Buying Advice- 06' SE

Been trying to get into an LR3 for a while now. Just found one with 146K. Silver with Beige interior.

It seems to be pretty clean. Not entirely sure about maintenance history.

Im going to look/make an offer this Friday.

Owner says he had the compressor rebuilt, but has not taken to the dealer to have the ride height reset, so it is stuck at one height. Also the back gate electric mechanism is not working. In addition it needs tires. That is all I know currently.

I was told to make sure the car is cold and start it up. If there is any chattering or noise at start up it could be a sign of timing chain/tensioners? Does this sound right?

Any other thing I should be looking out for besides the normal stuff?

He is asking $7800.

Thoughts on price and any inspection tips would be appreciated.

It does not sound like it has been maintained very well. The clattering could be anything from infrequent oil changes to something else.. I have 150k on mine it is fine.

I'm not buying the vehicle being stuck at normal height because it hasn't had a height alignment. You can need a height alignment. Have the fused been pulled... why? tires- ya, we all need them.

I'd have to look at this one... is it a V8?

Thanks for the response.

I'm not sure if it has a noise, was just told to listen for it.

It's a V8.

What do you think a good deal would be with its current state of neglect?

Also, would the EAS fuse be under the dash or in the engine bay?

If at all possible try to get service records. The lr3 is a great truck but needs TLC. Be mindful that repairs can be costly. Be sure to shop around too!
