Default Calipers, shoes and rotors replace....

Hi - are there any tips for replacing the calipers, rotors and pads and then flushing the brake fluid on these things? Are they pretty straight forward?

I noticed on my GAP tool there was a "brake flush" menu option. Needed?

Nothing special that I recall. The brake flush might be for service interval resets? Unless its ABS related, but I thought I read the ABS does not need cycling when changing brake fluid on these.

Recently did this job, front and rear.

Here are my takeaways:
  • The parking brake under the rear rotor may take a little patience to loosen and tighten.
  • You may wish to consider swapping hydraulic hoses, too, in case there are issues there that may affect the new calipers.
  • If replacing any front sensors, they run under the wheel well covers, so swapping these took a little finessing.
  • If replacing the calipers, be sure to get the bracketed calipers. If you need to replace the caliper, there may be minor issues with the bracket that aren’t worth the $10 savings to forego.
  • Be sure to get a good grease that is rated for the type of pad and the temps you might encounter. If not, you’ll get squeaking, performance issues, and may have to take it all apart and do it again later with the right grease.
  • Have a torque wrench handy. I found it too easy to have the caliper bolt too tight or too loose without it.
  • I didn’t reset the computer after the brake job but if you have the ability to, why not do so.

The copper grease as used by the factory and the dealership isn't exactly easy to come by. What is everyone else using?
