Can't turn back now gents!
I finally did it. Pulled the trigger on a '06 V6 w/80k. Out with the Caddy, in with the Rover. Love the space. Love the height. Thing is running pretty well. I do have a CEL on that, of course, turned on right when I was 4 ft. from my house coming back from the dealership, so it's time to invest in a reader. Another issue I had straight away was this one:
. Since that popped up yesterday, I've thrown a can of Seafoam in the tank, ran it for a while last night, and then this morning came out and she started right up. She actually seemed to start up 'stronger' than before, if that makes sense (that initial start up "jump" has the RPMs reaching 1.5 instead of before it would barely reach 1). Not sure if that's the seafoam or what. I've read some other fixes for this problem, but haven't tried them out yet. If it keeps rearing it's ugly head, I'll look more into it.
Another smaller issue is the gas door won't close. Not a huge deal, I think I saw the replacement part is like $10 or something, watched a couple videos on how to do it, so it's just a matter of ordering the part and installing.
Other thing straight away I'm looking at doing is getting a 3-ring binder and making it my "LR3 book." It didn't come with the manual, so I need to find that somewhere, print it, and stick it in there. Also going to include all service records, issues (and how I've tried to remediate), etc. etc.
That's about it for now. I know I have some work and money ahead of me, but I'm excited and willing to put in the time and money. Can't wait for the winter here in WI! Looking forward to posting many a' post here, so please have patience with an LR3 noobie!
Other thing to note: when I went to look at this initially and test drove, it had a suspension fault and the rear wiper didn't work. Dealer replaced the compressor and the rear motor, had the compressor calibrated at an LR dealership, and all is now good. So I'm hoping that will save me about $1500 - $2000 in parts and labor in the future.

Congratulations with your endeavor, sounds like you made an informed choice.
Since this is my first post here, feel I should post something insightful; pass on words of wisdom as they say. Unfortunately I haven't many so I shall pace myself.
If you have a multi-meter, be sure and check battery voltage. correct voltages are between 14.2 to 15.2
Or (My words of wisdom)
if you turn the radio on and then press and hold the rotary button on the right hand side of the radio it will eventually (about 20 seconds or so) change the radio display to show the vehicle VIN details. release the button and then press and hold it again. The display will change after a while and you can use the rotary **** to cycle through various pages. A lot of the pages don't mean anything (Or do they?) but after 5 or 6 you will get some details about temperature and charging voltage. This is obviously much easier than a multi-meter - and you can see how the voltage changes as you drive.

As far as the voltage... I don't think you need a multimeter. There are so many different things in the vehicle computers that monitor voltage that it would let you know. The radio "low power mode" the battery indicator, etc.
Plus these batteries could jump start a freaking ships diesel engine.
@EstorilM, you're welcome. Ever find the hidden button on the NAV screen?
On Home/main menu; top of screen center, press and hold for 6sec. release, then press left button below screen until you see "Diag PIN Entry", enter 753.
@houm_wa, sorry, don't remember. I'm sure if you Google around you'll find it. 14.1 idle?
