CEL on my '06
Hi all,
2006 HSE, 204k miles on the clock.
Started it up the other day, first legit cold morning in western WA state (around 32F) and was greeted with a CEL icon. The display said something like "Engine System Fault" not sure the exact syntax because as I cycled through it, that message was gone. I drove around, didn't go away. Cycled power, didn't go away. Drove fine. No symptoms at all.
So when I got home I plugged in the ol' IIDTool. It stated the following under the "Engine Petrol" category:
P0018-00(A8) Crankshaft position - camshaft position correlation - bank 2, sensor 1
I cleared it, and haven't seen it since. I am chocking it up to some phantom sensor snafu based on cold weather.
Has anyone seen this before and/or have any insight?
Thanks in advance,
Houm

Slow (cold) oil supply to Vanos causing a variation that exceeds the tolerance for just long enough to trigger a CEL?
But , that should have gone away once it warms up.
So still thinking about it.
Sorry not much help on this one.

That's alright....I checked the battery and it was indeed a bit low. 12.0V and it had been driven the previous day. I've only had this LR3 for 1.5 years so the battery is at least that old. I'm not sure when the PO installed it and the markings on the battery indicating the date of install are inconveniently covered by the tie-down bar. I'll put it on the list!
