Default Cleaning Mass Air flow Sensor?

Hi is it safe to pull out the Mass Airflow Sensor and use the Mass Airflow Cleaner Spray on it by CNC I think it's called?
Our repair shop won't do it..say if it gets ruined will need a new one.
I just want it to idle smoothly when AC is on.
The main video that comes up on YouTube when searching just shows how to pull it out and spray..shou should it not dry before putting back in?
Thank you.

If the 4.4 gasser engine, clean the throttle plate first and see if it will smooth out before the maf sensor

If it idles smoothly without the AC on, chances are the surging idle with AC on is normalish. Meaning the vehicle needs higher RPMs to keep the ac happy.

If it surges with AC off, clean the throttle body as suggested(not a bad idea regardless of symptoms).

You will not hurt the MAF by cleaning it.

Just pull it, and keep it inside for 30 min - then clean
After, let it air dry for another 30 to be safe

If cleaning doesn't help - and you have no CEL - then it is something else
If you DID have a CEL and cleaning doesn't help, then you probably needed an new MAF anyway

I have had success cleaning my Jetta MAF, but not the the LR3. I replaced that one to fix my CEL

Cool down? Its at ambient air temp unless heat soaked by engine. No need for it to cool down at all. Just spray, put it back in. When the engine starts any residual MAF cleaner will dry off in a split second as the engine pulls air past it.

I cleaned my MAF sensor yesterday as well as the throttle body on both sides of the plate.
All is good so far.
