Earlier vs later years
Hello,
I'm in the market for an 4.4 V8 LR3 and I'm trying to understand if there are certain years to avoid? After some research, it seems that some recommend going for an 07 and newer. Are the 05s or even 06s that much less reliable? What were the things that were fixed in later models, if any?

I don't know of any major reliability differences in the LR3 across years - unlike the LR4. The 4.4 is solid, the trans is great. I think the only really concern would maybe be the front diff, they were painted inside and that paint fails and destroys the bearings. But I am not sure if the painted was done across all years or early.
I think the origination of the "buy 07 or newer" came from a while ago
When people were figuring Land Rover ironed out all the kinks of parts/production
But by know any 05-06 would have had any problems well taken care of by now
So I don't think you need to stay away from early - just get the one with the best service history, and the spec you want
