Try these pages. In Roverspeak, they call it a capacitor, with individual coil on each plug, it is wired to shunt radio static to ground for all of them. If it were failing (whether diode or capacitor), it would screw up spark greatly. If unplugged, will let static be sent out by the ignition coils, while this would be noticed on AM stations, it may well interfere with other electronics in the vehicle, but vehicle may be able to crank and run. Item 3 in the drawing. I did not see a diode listed, but again, I was just reading my copy of the manual.

I figured out where it is. I unplugged it and no fire. I have heard about bypassing it but don't know how. There are 3 wires, the two outside wires on the plug are red and I believe the middle one is black, so would I want to jump the two red together after unplugging the diode to bypass it? I want to be able to test if this is the problem before throwing parts at it, although this is a relatively cheap part.

I'm new to the LR3 scene so I am not yet as knowledgeable as I am with the Disco II

elrocha69 - the red/brown runs back to battery fuse box fuse 6E, and the red/white provides common +12 volts to all the coil packs. Those can connect together to get truck running. The black goes to earth (frame) ground.

Sanriogonz - attached is battery swap out procedures, there are six different ones, depending on conditions. Seems like you could repeat procedure 4. Something about waiting some minutes for engine computer to shut down....

Alright, I know I am not a pro! I just called the Land Rover Parts department to ask for the coil pack diode...to which the parts guy told me NO such diode exists for my 2006 LR3 and that I should just bring the car into the service center!

Did I ask for the wrong thing? I have tried most everything else at this point...thinking to try to swap this part out.

You may already have the updated part. Someone posted some photos of the old and new condenser. I had already ordered one for my 2006 LR3, and when I went to replace it lo and behold I had the new one already. Give them the updated part number and they can order it:
