Default First time LR owner 05 LR3

Hello folks! I traded in my beloved 01 bmw 750iL for 05 LR3 SEV8 with little under 60k miles. the vehicle is spotless and not a single sign of abuse. love the bmw sourced 4.4 V8 and 6spd, just made 500mile trip and averaged 21mpg cruising at 75!
I do need help with one thing that I cannot seem to understand.. the keyfob was works on and off, and the second keyfob don't function at all. is this common problem on these? closest LR dealer is 150 miles away and I'd love to try to fix the problem on my own before I drive up for eye poking. any help would be appreciated!

The key fob is charged as the key is used. If the second key was never used, it is very possibly just dead from lack of use. It may require dealer re-programing at this point if it did in fact go 3 years with no use. As far as the first set, sounds like you have problems with it as well. Only dealers have the required machine to reprogram those as far as I know.I have not noticed the fobs being a known problem with the LR3, btw.

Mine is the same way voodoo man. Only I only received ONE set of keys for my 05 LR3. Mine went dead the day I got it basically. And it didn't work for about 4 months when I stopped trying and then someone had the FOB and pressed it and it worked. It freaked me out !

So now it works here and there, sometimes for a few days at a time. And what I've been told by multiple sources including a LR dealer is all LR keys are on national back-order for more than a year. So you can't even get new keys.

neither one of mine works now, If i recall correctly, I think they're charged via RF? maybe the charging circuit or part is bad? I wish someone who knows for sure could chime in and give some advice, having the lock cap off the handle is not only annoying but the lock itself is very hard to turn, so it's real p.i.a !!!

so today, I went down to local autozone, they have little remote tester that reads RF to see if your remote is functioning properly. and both of mine were transmitting! so now I'm stumped. Its not the remote, so what could it be?

I would bet it's a software issue. Take to dealer for next service and have them flash the software. You can also try to disconnect the battery, let the systems completely power down, and then reconnect, as it will cause the computers to completely reboot.

I've had the same problem. Had the LR3 for a month now and the first two weeks both FOB were not working. Then one day they started to work but I realized that my passanger side break lights stoped working the same day and my instrument lights dim on their own. I have not had a chance to take it back to the dealer but I suspect a short somewhere. Has anyone else had an issue with lights after the FOB started to work on its own?

Sorry, dude, but it's Jaguar (= Ford) sourced. Not that it diminishes anything...
