Default Front blower motor

New here. I just bought an 06 LR3 and the front blower motor stopped working. I've checked all fuses but everything looked ok. The rear blower motor still works. Any ideas and help would be greatly appreciated. I also have a problem with the door mirrors, they won't move. Again, I've checked all fuses and they are good to go. Any help for a new rover driver would be appreciated.

Default A few thing to try

Jetranger67,
(is that code for Bell 206?)

Here are a few things to try;

Fan Motor: remove lower glove box, find fan motor plug and verify that it is getting voltage when you turn it on. If so, you may need a new motor, or at the very least need to remove that one and see why it will not turn.
If not, you will need to trace the wiring back a bit and find where you get power. I wish it were as easy as "follow a wire to the switch, the the fuse then the battery", but it is more complicated than that. If the above suggestion does not fix your fan issue, let us know,

Try this link to a thread on this forum for removal/install and the part numbers you may need here

Mirrors: try to manually move them up, down, left and right to free them up before you use the controls on the door. If that does not work, gently pull the mirror from the bottom and dislodge it from the mount. There should be a connector for the heating element you will need to disconnect, then you can set the mirror aside. Find the plug for the mirror mount motor and check the voltage between the Slate with White stripe wire and the other two wires (Black with blue stripe and Black with Pink stripe). These colors came from the 2007 LR3 wiring diagram, so your colors could be different. Either way some investigation should reveal if you are getting power to the mirrors or not. The left hand side you can do your self, right hand side may require you to secure the voltage meter leads to the plug or have someone operate the mirror **** whilst you read the voltage

If you do not have power to the mirrors you need to trace the wires back to the switch in the door. The switch should have the following wires;

From Central Junction box: Green and Pink. With the ignition on, you should have 12 volts on the green and pink wire.

From Switch to Left Mirror
Slate (grey)/White (ground)
Black/Blue (power up/down)
Black/Pink (power left/right)

From Switch to Right Mirror
Slate (grey)/White (ground)
Black/Blue (power up/down)
Black/Pink (power left/right)

Let us know how it works out for you.

Jeff

Hey Jeff, yes that's code for the Bell 206. Loved flying that bird.

So, I took the blower motor out and I could hear stuff rattling around inside. I did a direct hook up to the battery and well, nothing happened. Checked wiring to the blower motor and there's power, so I got a new blower motor. Installed and working fine now. While I was on the floor, it was soaking wet, so I checked and cleaned out the drain tubes. I'll work on the mirror issues next. I'll let you know how it goes.
Also having issues with the sunroof, nothing happens no matter how I push the switch.

Alan,

I used to fly low as well, but fixed wing (think PC-6, C-212 and AN-2)

Good to hear you were able to swap out the motor, did the thread I linked to help any? Thing about this forum is most questions have been asked (more than once) but searching is not always as straight forward as you may think. Fortunately, the folks on this forum are happy to help even if that help even with that and often suggest the secret word needed that gets you the search info you seek, post a link. That being said, try this thread

Sorry to hear about the drain tube but it is real common on these. Big thing is to make sure it is pushed through the hole far enough out into the air intake to keep it from leaking back in.

On ones I have bought, the mirrors were just stuck and once loosened up, worked fine

Let us know about the mirrors and sunroof

Jeff

Jetranger 67,

Glad I was of some help.
But as they say; Misery loves company,
As I turned into my street yesterday evening, I heard a faint chirp from under the dash. As this is what started as a bad blower motor bearing in my last rover, I knew it is only a matter of time until I could not stand the chirping sound when accelerating, braking or turning, and like you, will be changing out my blower motor.

At least this time the info and support from the forum are close at hand.

Jeff
