Just curious if anyone has done a headlight projector upgrade like done on some of the Mercedes vehicles whereby they bake and pull apart the headlights and put in better projectors.

Examples of new projector housings include the EvoX-R, the Morimoto mini D2S, or the NHK M5 Pro such as in this thread (X251 Morimoto mini D2S retrofit)

The high beam fill light is easy to upgrade to a projector. The main beam, if already a projector, may be tricky because the LR3 uses a flip up shield to go from low to high - which is why the lower/inner beam is called a "fill light".

 

Do you know what size projector would fit in the high beam spot? I'd love to swap it for LEDs

 

At some point there was a shop who did upgrades to D4/LR4 lights by replacing the projectors. I’ll see if I can find it.

Needless to say it’ll make your lights illegal, not for road use, etc. etc. so YMMV. Same with changing HIDs to LEDs

 

Best I could find and this is of course for the LR4. Perhaps ask them if they’ve done anything for the LR3?
