How difficult to replace front wiper motor?
We had a ton of heavy snow a little while ago and forgot I had the automatic wipers on when I started up. I heard a loud crack, and since the wipers were under a ton of snow and they didn't move. I immediately turned them off, and once I cleared the snow, they work...but seem loose and aren't aligned right (they bang the cowl when they park at the bottom).
I took it to my local mechanic to get it fixed and he said it would need a new wiper motor from LR, which would be about $600. That seems absurdly steep.
How hard is it to replace myself? Looks like just a couple bolts after getting the cowl off. Parts look relatively cheap as well. Should I just have the mechanic deal with it or try to save some money?
