pic is from Uwharrie NC, event this weekend, also my website with a few other rigs too.

Mikeysos, good on you if you like your truck the way it is. Personally I think that LRs are meant and designed to be taken off road, but I know many never see more than a pot hole on the city streets. There are LR guys from all walk of life and each have their own opinons about everything.

I think your LR is tight! It's clean and looks stout and the gear looks very tight as well.

I will be quite honest with you. I saw my LR 3 years before buying it. The exact same color and year. I saved it as the background on my sons PC and told him that when I decided to get rid of the Durango I would go LR. Truthfully, I was choosing between the MB R350 or the LR3. I needed seating capacity with a lot of exclusivity. The LR3 was sitting on the showroom when I went shopping and my son and I looked at each other knowingly and the vehicle became mine. I was a little shocked with the reaction I have seen on this forum especially since when I visit the Land Rover Dallas Dealership they have LRs that are blinged out and beautiful. Us city folk - all Jay-Z wannabe's.

I don't go off road mostly because I don't like getting dirty. Escalades, Navigators, and all the rest just don't do it for me. I love the boxy shape of the LR3 and even the LR2. The people that tell me they did not like LR3s often point to the boxy shape.

I kept my original tires and one day I may get up the nerve to take my baby into the wilderness. I think I never will BUT i love the option of being able to. I heard that once you go outback you never go back to normal driving. Happy offroading to you and I still prefer 3a.

Bashing is very common in the Land Rover community. Owning an LR3 often is enough to make some of the "old guys" call us Yuppies and Soccer Moms, and I being no different bashed you cause of the wheels you like, but screw that. I didnt pay for your truck and cant say what is the right thing to put on or not. Its just not a typical vehicle that we commonly see with 24" wheels.
As far as "when **** hits the fan" goes, if Mikeysos needed to, the LR3s capability has changed so drastically that he couldnt go off road or through a trail.

Man, i can tell the NY guy that when the stuff hits the fan, shiny wheels are the last thing on my mind. I don't usually debate from the extreme though. I am trying to understand why some people look only at the driving "go anywhere" design as the initiator and not the luxury and safety features of the device. I would never knock someone for taking a $50k vehicle and dipping it into a swamp. Seems like some insecure folks like to spread the insecurity.

LR's are awesome vehicles. The owners are like Mac or Linux types - they ride and die for theirs because they have defined expectations. I don't want to water down the lineage so I am going to take my wheels off.... Nah, I was just kidding. LOL

Btw, does anyone know what happened to the LR Rear Spare design? Any plausible reason they moved it to the bottom of the vehicle? I waited a long time to get my Elephant/Cheetah design.

Thanks for the conversation guys. If you are ever in Dallas let me know and we can hit the concrete jungles together.

And I just decided, I am going to take my LR offroad with these tires just to see what happens.

Mikey

Has Sh&t ever hit the fan for you? What did you do? I mean what are we really talking about? Jumping the curb? shortcut through a city garden? I think LR is alluring to both off-roaders and luxury car blingers. That is what separates it from the likes of Jeep and Toyota, IMO. One of the things at least.

The chicks actually admired the vehicle before the rims. Plus, I am married. Now I will admit that the neighbors admire it a lot as well as co-workers.

Actually I would think people would have more issues with the low profile tires than the rims. I plan to upgrade those for Christmas. After I upgrade I will definitely spend some time in the local bog here.

I am going to take it off-road for the hell of it. I will supply the pics.

Im not 100% sure why they decided to relocate the spare under the vehicle.
There was company that used to make the aftermarket rear bumper mounted spare tire carrier for LR3s closed down... Rasta off road or something like that.
If i were you I would not take those wheels in mud unless I had to. Even the stock wheels get scratched from the spinning in mud.
Did your truck have the 18" or 19" wheels?

hmm. well there was this one time i think it was called september 11 2001. where i was carting emergency workers into the city. that was a pretty descent amount of **** that hit the fan that day. maybe you heard what happened. i think the news got down there to the longhorn state. since then i stick with always be prepared. at that time i had the D1 and still no 24's. i don't need rims to atract chicks, and not for nothing but if they are attracted to me because i have 24's on my truck i'm not sure that is the kind of chick i want. in fact i don't want a chick at all i rather have a woman. but as i said before. do as you wish you just wouldn't catch me riding dirty on dubs in my Disco.
