Default Inside rear row door pull inoperable

The inside door handle on the rear driver's side door doesn't seem to be connected to anything. You can pull it, but nothing happens, it seems to be free and smooth. In addition, the door will not lock, using either the fob or the manual latch on the door itself. The alarm does work. If you open the door with the alarm set, it screams like crazy, thankfully. Before replace the lock/latch assembly, any ideas? thanks Phil

Make sure the child lock isn't on? Wouldn't affect the ability of the door to lock/unlock, but would make the interior handle inoperable.

That would have been too easy. It was not the child lock. Phil

Oh well, it was worth a shot. The cable actually snapped on my wife's RR and I had to take the door card off and replace the cable. You might find the same thing. Cables are much cheaper than the mechanism itself, so I would tear it apart first to make sure you know what you need before ordering anything.

Default cycle the locking system a few times and ....

I would play with the child lock and generally cycle the locks a few times while playing with the inside latches etc.

For some reason, the bits within the door can get out of syn - probably lack of use, and if you are luck, playing with the latches and opening and closing the door can get the bit to align again.

I would try this as if you pull the door card off, (not easy),, for the most part, probably nothing will appear broken, (that would be too easy), so one would be still looking as to how to align the bits - fiddly finger stuff.

I have read posts where it appears that children playing with the latches etc and have found some way of disabling all. Interrogation of the felons as to what they did has only yielded tears - that of the parents.
