My new to me 06 came with two keys. One starts the car but is otherwise destroyed. The other looks practically new but will not turn over the engine

For the first one, I’m guessing I can just order a new fob case and switch out the key.

For the second, is this a symptom of needing a battery or programming? I have a gap tool on the way so hopefully just programming.

 

Likely programming. The remote button function is separate and independent of the starting function. That is a totally dead fob will still start an LR3. With that said, if it has been programmed before it may not take new programming. You may need to buy a new blank key to program, for that you need one function key which fortunately you have. Then it is just a matter of following the GAP directions.

 

bought a replacement case on amazon and just switched out the blade...

 

I'm curious...did you have to reprogram the fob after you switched out the blade for it to work? Thanks.
