Default Looking To Buy 05' or 06'?

My wife needs a new vehicle and she really likes the LR3. I have mixed emotions about them to be perfectly honest. Its no secret that Land Rover has had some pretty serious quality issues. I do however like the ride and looks of the LR3 (less the gawdy grey flares whichwill be painted if we purchase). A guy I use to work with leased an 05' and they had so many problems with it that they got it lemon lawed so that right there really has me leary of buying an 05' In talking with the saleguy at Land Rover last night he said the 05' had a lot of software problems initially but they got them all ironed out. If I do go with a Rover I will get a CPOed one from the dealership. My question is do I save myself around $5K and go with an 05' or is the 06' that much better quality wise that I should spend the extra cash?

Any opinions on factory Nav and the Bluetooth set-up?

We have been all over the place trying to find her a vehicle. Right now we have it narrowed down to a LR3, Porsche Cayenne or a Lexus GX470. I'm a Porsche guy so I like the Cayenne best but it doesn't have the room the LR3 has. The Lexus froma quality standpoint would be the smartest move but looks-wise we like it the least. My wife really likes the "rugged" look of the LR3 and I gotta admit I like the looks of them too. Just don't want to get into a vehicle that will be in the shop the majority of its lfe.

Any thoughts and feedback would be appreciated.

If you don't need 3rd row seats and won't go off-roading, I'drecommend '05 - 06 X5.

I purchase my wife hers about 2 months ago. I found a 2005 with 16K miles. This provided for at least 2 years and many miles to work out any kinks. I had never considered purchasing a Land Rover LR3 before. Really did not know much about them. My boys are the ones that convienced me to purchase this and I have been really happy so far. It has performed as I expected. We have taken it in once to have some warranty work done. They have been responsive in resolving the issues. I would purchase another Land Rover when ready probally 2 years. We had the option on a 2006 black or 2005 Artic Blue the 06 had about 6K miles. Interior was great in both. I am not sure on the mechanics between the two. So, I say the 05 has worked well for us!

I drove 3 hrs to buy a Silver 05' with 34K miles and when I got to the LR dealer I found a Black loaded 06' with 18K miles for $3K more so I opted for that one.

Now my question is have any of you put in an aftermarket drop-down DVD player? Doesn't look like you can get a very big one in that slanted space in the roof-line. I wanted to put a 12-15" screen in but don't think I can. Anyone?

The dealer can put in a 10" or they have separate screens that go in the headrests, looks pretty cool..pricey though, $2000 or so installed.
