Default LR3 Fuel Level Sensor

Hi there,
Im looking for a second opinion. I've posted about the issue before but now have updates. Story time.
I had my LR3 die on me once shortly after filling up. Crank, no start. Towed to indy shop, diagnosed as bad fuel pump (made sense, I could hear it whining terribly.) Fuel pump was replaced, gas was replaced and it left the shop with a full tank. Fast forward a week, my wife has been driving it non stop while I'm out of town. I get back and take it for a spin and it sputters and dies. Thought it was an issue with fuel pump again, it was acting the same. Tow it to same shop. They tell me that first the pickup tube had come off of the fuel pump and that they would reattach and should be fine. Call back later to say it is out of fuel. Gauge is reading 3/4 full. Makes sense it is out since it had been driven a lot. However when it initially went in with a fuel pump issue the gauge worked fine. It left the shop after fuel pump replacement without a working gauge. They tried replacing the float without asking me or doing any real diagnostics, no change. Went back in today and they said it is the front fuel level sensor and can replace it for $475 parts and labor.

What are the chances that the front level sensor failed at the same time as the fuel pump? Is this an odd coincidence or a shop error that should be covered under their parts and warranty labor on the fuel pump? It seems kind of suspect.

Thank you,

Aaron
