Default LR3 HSE parking sensore DX and fix dealer cost?

One of my parking sensors just went out and I feel blind parking without my beep beep beep. I miss it more than I realized so I want it fixed.
I have no clue what sensor it is, I tried to listen and feel and nothing. I tried a CGsulit sc204 that found a gas cap code in the past. But it failed to find any sensor out codes. I guess sensors being out do not toss up that engine light code like the gas cap did.

I know there are special LR code readers that might help but they are like $500.00, Wondering what a dealer would charger to diagnose and replace a sensor?

I called a dealer and got a ballpark on the phone of $225.00 to DX it and that would include removing a bumper he said. Then it would be the part which he did not have a price for. Anyone know the going dealer rate for a LR3 parking sensor?

How do you know it's a sensor and not something else?

Also, the GAP tool is $500, but will save you far more than that over the years. Not having one as an LR3 Owner is really setting yourself up for frustration and greater costs down the road.

I hear ya on the "beep beep beep"'er though. My speaker went out on my '05 and I need to replace it. I think it is the speaker anyway, because I noticed the sound became more "shrill" and then some time later I heard it basically die. Like "beep beep beep beeeeeeeeep ahhhhhhh, I'm dead" is how I'd describe its last sounds. I have a replacement speaker (pretty cheap) and saw a youtube vid on how to do it. Probably a 2 beer job; I'm just waiting for a break in the rain and some better temps since I don't drive the '05 all that much.

Even with the GAP tool I might find the broken sensor but I still have to tear the bumpers off and the front one is no pick-nick. I'm not into that. I can change a battery, minor things Im no mechanic. I was able to find a code for a leaky gas cap I fixed. Small stuff not tearing apart bumpers clips etc. Ill pay a dealer to do that, if they break something they have parts one hand I don't.

Fair enough, but you didn't answer my question. How do you know your issue is a sensor and not something else, like the speaker itself or wiring?

I can hear the speakers and the beeps so they work. But I don't know if its a bad wire, or a bad sensor.

Default Fwiw…

You need only remove the bumper PANEL not the actual steel bumper. This means removing both tail light assemblies and rear wheel arches too, but none of that looks too difficult.

Maybe not for you. I don't like messing with door panel and anything with clips they always break off and end up with car half apart in the driveway. Im not a mechanic i can do some things others i don't want to mess with. Windshield wipers, hood and rear shocks, battery, air filters maybe plugs and coild packs, Gas cap EZ stuff. Bumpers and door panels are one level above what I will do . Not that its hard, its tedious to me. Hats off to you if you like it and its ez.

I'm more in your camp, actually. There is a pretty good youtube clip on this bumper panel removal, though, if you want to see more. Also, it would be a good idea to buy some of those plastic fasteners to have in your pocket.
