Default LR3 Key

My keys function perfectly fine, but aesthetically they are not pleasing at all. My question is can the electronics be transferred into another case. My buttons are disintegrating, and I have been using a built up electrical tape solution. Thanks for the help.

Also, sometimes I have a strange noise coming from the front of the truck around 55 mph. It sounds like wind squeezing through some place. The a pillar trim seems fine.

Yes, the electronics and key shank can most certainly be moved to another case. The hardest part of the whole transplant would be opening the old key fob. They sell new empty key fobs on ebay for relatively cheap, though I cannot vouch for the quality.

Regarding the front end noise, as you have pointed out, the A pillar trim seems to be the common culprit. I have read that the plastic tabs that hold it secure are prone to breaking.

Where are you sourcing acceptable blank cases?

remotesinc@gmail.com sells them on eBay for $139.97 including shipping. They look exactly like LR fobs...and they might be OEM, not sure.

What I learned is that dealers canNOT cut the blank key, so I guess you want to ask your dealer or a locksmith whether they can exchange the cut key into the new case.

Programming the new case is about $175 at a dealer. Remotes, INC says that locksmiths can do it, but I didn't find anybody in lower Alabama that does it.

The remote cases I have seen on ebay (search "LR3 key") were selling for as low as $12. I believe they come with an uncut key shank, but no electronics. The actual electronics are just a small circuit board with the buttons and battery soldered on. The circuit board easily comes out of the case, as does the key shank.
