Default LR3/LR4 Roof rail removal and paint question

I've just acquired a LR4. It has the aluminium roof rails, that I'd like to switch out for black as the vehicle mostly has the black pack look. The rails are in perfect condition and ideally I'd like to spray them in flat black. I have never removed rails and wonder even if they can safely be removed and re-installed without messing up the alignment, etc. I've been doing some searching on the forum and came across this post from Dakota Traveler, and wanted thoughts on whether it's OK to pull up the whole rail and spray and refit. Has anyone done this? For painting I'd be using canned spray paint.

Grateful for any advice.

You may have to prep/prime those rails. But there is no issue in removing them, nothing to really align, etc. Pretty straight froward.

I'd get them powder coated in satin black, i swapped my short black rails for long ones in silver so i might just get mine done as well.

We could do them together for a discount! If you could just send me yours I'll strike a deal.

I think the cost of powder coating would probably equal the cost of new rails, plus the risk of deforming them during the process. I'll try a rattle can and once I've F'd that up I'll look to other options.

Appreciate the responses. DK if you're sure that they're ok to remove...!

They wont deform and removal is easy but the bolts can be stubborn , i'm a bit far for a group deal.
