The P38 had the stainless caps on the steel lug nuts long before Ford got involved with Land Rover so I believe it is Land Rover's attempt to dress up the cars. Can be a real headache on the P38.

That could be. I know Ford switch to the same "Rover" style around 2005-ish, so figured that was why Rover used em. I guess it maybe was he other way around.
