Default Lr3 radiator fan always loud.

Hey guys. So I’ve been having an issue with the viscous fan not slowing down after warming up. I just changed out the fan itself and it is still doing the same thing. Temp is fine. Needle stays around halfway. Any suggestions?

A failing alternator can cause that phenomenon.

Or just a relay in engine bay. That was a problem in my case.

I probably should’ve started there before changing out the fan haha. I’ll check that later today and update.. thanks!

I am with Army Rover on this one. If the alternator is going out, sometimes it sends funny signals to the ECU which wrongly interprets this as a high temp signal from the coolant sensor and turns on the fan.

Been there twice.
BUT it costs nothing to check relays and connections (and grounds), maybe even be liberal with the dielectric grease when you do, so try that first.

Let us know how it turns out for you.

Jeff
