LR3 Re-Sale Values (WTF!)
I vowed to never buy a new car... then we got the 2018 D5. The only reason was that I am familiar with the 4.4 and the 5.0, but not the 3.0 SC and all the bells and whistles the new rovers have. So, it was a business decision. I want to have been through all the issues when the vehicles get out of warranty, so I can start fixing them!
But I am sure we lost 20K just driving it off the lot.

I have been eye'ing other LR3s myself...I kind of want another one. I'm not sure why, just to keep totally stock and tool around town in, I guess....sort of hypocritical though because I advise others against doing just that.
I think they are going to be iconic though, depending on what this new Defender looks like.

@COSPILOT I think I see a D5 in your future!
I liked the LR3 from the word go, but then again I never owned any LR before that. I test drove the Disco and wasn't a fan. A lot of body roll and not much power. I did; however, love the driving feel of the P38 even though they have such a bad rap, especially off-road. To me the LR3 was handsome and classic LR looking still (boxy) and yet had the driving feel of the P38 but with more juice. Throw in the off-roading capability and I was smitten.
The L322 RR, took a while to grow on me but I like them, particularly pre-2013. The D5....meh....not a fan, but I need to see one built before I totally write them off.

We looked at a couple of the L322 rangeys but they don't have the same feel as a LR3, and I just feel that if I got one I would be settling. Never having driven a P28 I can't say if I'd like that better or not.
I wrote off a BMW E60 from a deer strike, and took the insurance money and sent shopping. Originally the plan was to get a D2 but our LR3 came up and was so nice that we stretched the settlement a bit to buy it. If I found another at the right price I'd buy it, leave Winston as a stock rig and mod the new LR3 a bit. Apparently I am not allowed to drill holes for ham radio antennas in the nice LR3, and there isn't enough metal in the roof for a magnet mount. So am still looking for something suitable.

You are missing out. Incredible vehicle. Every new one comes out, and people like me say its junk, then I drive one. Land Rover continues to provide a real off road vehicle but fits the needs of the ultra wealthy looking for their next drug fix.
As I tell my wife, no other vehicle takes you to the Broadmoor for dinner and takes you to the top of a mountain, without modification.

Oh I'm sure I am missing out...and then I'd have to deal with the let down of getting back into the LR3.
I'm sure the L322 can kick some butt off-road. I wonder how the newest ones would stack up against a 2012 model....they seemed more buildable.
