Default probably not the clockspring

Here are some links for you to research and follow up on.

You will have to spend some time searching as there are a number of possibilities.

Most likely, the problem is not what is commonly called the clockspring and the most interesting idea I found was the suggestion that one of the wheel speed sensors was acting up and perhaps activating the ABS or Antiskid circuits.

I suggest before you change anything, that you get a Land Rover specific code reader and see if any codes come up. What appears like a defective wheel speed sensor can be a wiring problem with the sensors - broken or breaking wire - that sort of thing. The odds are that if any codes do display, they will initially tend to lead you astray however with time, you lean what they are really attempting to say. I note that as there is no code for a broken wire or breaking wires - only some vague misleading comments about various intermittent communication concerns.

This is a link related to something called the lower steering column bush that is on the engine side of the firewall.

This one relates to the clockspring and also the steering angle sensor. The steering angle sensor is interesting in that if you have a wheel alignment problem, the angle sensor suggests your 3 is turning, the yaw sensors say it is not, and the antiskid may or may not go into operation.

This is how to remove the steering wheel but I do not think you will have to.
