Yup, I can verify as well. Works as a Nav system should work. I actually used it to get up to Vermont this past week and despite the ETA being waaaaay too optimistic, it worked great including Nav on the move. I have the newest (patched together) DVD with the 2012 software (I think) and the 2015/2016 maps and have the IID Tool Nav on the move upgrade.

Will any old IIDTool do that update or do you have to have a fancy BT version?

Sorry, I specifically meant the non-IID tool diagnostic menu hack that most people with older NAV software use.

Unsure... but I think the idea is the non BT will do everything the BT one does. It is just a reflash

Djkronik

I gotcha, just wanted to be clear for anyone unfamiliar

I'm guessing this would not be very cost effective, but if someone was able to find the perfect LR3 except that it doesn't have nav, would it be possible to simply install it? Would it be plug and play or would there be all kinds if missing sensors?

I believe you're missing a considerable amount of additional connections; everything from the GVIF data, to a number of other audio/video interface information. I believe there's also a unit which provides the video output of the "visual" data such as terrain response, etc. which would be missing.

Everything I remember back when I was searching for used LR3's indicated that you're better off with an aftermarket A/V type install. You'll just be lacking the TerrainResponse visualization, plus a couple other things (when you're low on gas, it pops up gas stations, etc)

Personally I think it's worth driving an extra 40-50mi for a similarly-priced LR3 SE w/ NAV or just an HSE.

Default installing a factory Nav system

Here is the link to the Update DVD. The cost is around fifty US dollars.

https://landroverforums.com/forum/lr...e8/#post580534

With the DVD installed, if you currently have the circa 2005 DVD installed you lose the hack.

To my knowledge, with a newer than 2005 DVD installed, the only way to get full time Nav on the Move is via a software update using either the GAP IID or BlackBox Evolution - and yes, I have the 2015/15 update DVD installed and used my Evo to do get the full time Nav on the Move.

As to the question of installing the factory Nav where none is currently present, yes, it is possible, but in a practical sense, no.

The two links below are a detailed guide with regards to what I call "the full meal deal".

Hi 4x4,

I finally pulled the trigger on an LR3, thanks for your input.

You mentioned that you purchased a 2015-16 OEM NAV, did you purchase it from Land Rover? I'm looking to upgrade my 07' NAV.

Thanks

No, it is not from Landrover, they stopped supplying update DVD's per 2011, but the data is from another Denso system using same database structure combined with the specific LandRover firmware, works on all LR3,RR,RRS including the earlier years 2004/2005 where it also does the firmware update on the system first !
