Default Looks like it’s in time so now what?

Hey everybody, I finally got a photo of the crankshaft position - attached. The lens was at an angle so keep that in mind but it looks pretty darn timed, no?

if so, now what? I guess the VVT sprocket? Please advise.

This is as close to straight on as I could get, does it look good?

Default Found chain looseness

Are these chain tensioners always meant to be tensioning? Even when the vehicle has not been running for a month?

I thought that was weird at first, too, on that secondary chain. When you rotate the motor, it will tighten and loosen through the rotation, presumably due the the intake and exhaust cam lobes opposing each other. I concluded, correctly or not, that oil pressure while running maintains consistent tightness while running. Post #42..

Question: Our valve covers have 3 different types of bolts/grommets. In particular, each cover has 1 grommet where the bolt and the metal sleeve are separate (LR000337 = Bolt) and 4728387 is the separate metal sleeve with the rubber grommet.
Anyone know which hole in the covers take this fastener?

Does anyone have a strong opinion on whether we should always replace the crankbolt whenever we take it off, even if only been on for 100 miles ? I installed a new one and drove for about 100 miles and need to resolve a slight timing error so need to remove cover again to move the chain one tooth. I hate to buy another new crank bolt.
Any opinions?

I am going to attempt a resolution by valve cover removal and loosening the phaser housing and twisting CC and retightening to see if quiets things down. I am intrigued by that through hole that passes the cover plate and the sprocket plate and wanted to ask you if the holes are the exact same diameter for a machinists dowel pin to locate them together? It would be very interesting for scientific sake to declare that the locating holes are not perfectly in line on my phaser before I slacken the bolts. Then to use a slip fitting pin to line things up, tighten down, then report to everyone the results on a cold startup. Or maybe this track I'm thinking about isn't even important and a more simple approach of slackening the 3 torx bolts and twisting the housing CC and retightening the bolts is all that I need to try? Just want to be realistic and prepared for a successful outcome before diving in! Again thanks for doing this for the rover community!
Did you end up trying this? I haven't checked which side it's coming from yet, but I believe I have the same issue.
