That is true if I'm not mistaken from 2006 on. I believe the pre 2006 models used a BMW version of the 4.4 . Completely different motors I would imagine. This model is supposed to be a 2005, but I want to make sure it wasnt built in 2005 and is still labeled a 2006, which would make it the right motor.(This particular motor has a small hole in the side from a bracket that was broken off during a collision.)

Bottom line I just need to find out if the parts off of it will make my 06 purr again. They look to similar to me to distinguish immediately.

I have a 2005 LR3 and can confirm that it is the Jaguar AJ-V8 motor.

Land rover used a 4.4 BMW engine for 2005 FFRR , but never on LR3 , as they quickly realized it was too weak for such heavy vehicles , beemer engine was ditched and Jag product was implemented into the new fleet vehicle such as LR3.

Great, well that helps immensely. I was on the wrong track thinking there were 2 different 4.4's used in the LR3's changing from one to the other early on. Might just open up my options a bit! Thanks

HAHA...AHH. This is getting interesting. So I am working on tracing the VIN down on this vehicle to decide if its worth spending the money on this broken motor. I've decided that if I can confirm it was damaged at a low amount of miles, its worth it to spend the money on the motor(being pretty cheap, probably around $900, since he hesitated at $1200). Carfax isnt showing history on the vehicle so I googled the VIN, and it came back with a GSA(goverment auction) listing.....Crash Tested Vehicle.

http://gsaauctions.gov/gsaauctions/a...51FBPI07017030

Was sold at auction in September 2007. After looking for crash test results, I found a Youtube listing for probably this very vehicle that was tested in 2005. 25MPH test.

Maybe it is, maybe it isnt, but regardless this motor is likely very low miles with nothing more than a very small hole due to a bracket breaking. I think I will bite on this bait.
