I need a new key/fob for my 2009 LR3. Are any available other that Land Rover?

you can add one by buying an aftermarket blank (Amazon <$30 I believe) and using the GAP IID tool to program it. A competent locksmith can cut the blade. And of course you need at least one functioning key to run the process.

If you don't have the GAP tool, some other less expensive programming tools exist but there's not a lot of support for them. I'm not sure if the GAP tool needs to be associated with the VIN of your truck or if you can use someone else's. If you're starting from square one, the dealer may be the less expensive option.....

 

I ended up buying a couple blanks off ebay and taking them to a locksmith to be cut. Of course you will need the old key to use as a template. I then used the gap tool to program the keys. Worked great.

 

I bought one of these on eBay, added the battery and programed with GAP.
