Outta nowhere the rear hatch started clicking like it was trying to unlock but repeating cyclically every few second.

it’s been working fine all weekend and o Lu just started when I unlocked the truck after sitting outside in the cold for a few hours. The back hatch would loosen slightly but then I couldn’t open it, having to push it close. It would then Pop back open unless I pushed it closed and locked the truck quick.

The other thing I tried was pressing the lock/unlock buttons on the dash together for a bit and nothing happened. Maybe I’m doing that wrong?

The brain trusts insight would be helpful since I’m out on vacation in the snow.

If I need to replace the actuator then I’m down to do so when we get back, but opening it up to pack the gear tomorrow morning would be really helpful.

 

Fun update.

This seems to be a cold weather thing only. It was clicking again and now won't open. Used the lock/unlock button press and it works but the hatch will not open. Seems the outside button is non-responsive.

Time to replace the hatch actuator?

 

When you tried the lock/unlock button press did the hatch sort of pop open just a crack? or partially? Or just nothing?

 

Tried that today and it went just a bit. The hatch can move back/forth but is still latched and won’t open. It’s like that half latch position. It would open if the button responded.

The rubber button between the license plate lights doesn’t do anything now.

Also tried the reset thing by holding the lock/unlock buttons for 15 seconds but nothing happened. Maybe I’m doing that wrong (I did the double press wrong at first) but I can’t find a procedure or what’s supposed to happen when it resets. Is there a sound, click, whatever?
