Default New Owner! Hello!

Good evening everyone. I'm the proud new owner of an 06 LSE with all the extras (rear diff lock, cooler, cold weather, luxury, adaptive lights, etc). I'm a huge Rover enthusiast, and previously had 2 Discos. This is our extra rig, and used as a ski vehicle and for mountain biking, quads, etc.
she is a well sorted out truck with a super detailed service history and clean carfax. Drives beautiful and quiet, and had both control arms replaced prior to buying.
I'm used to the easy to work on old school 4.0 and 4.6, so I know this truck will be more of a challenge. I read through the stickies and did plenty of research before, but would love any tips or advice in the truck. Currently, I'm shopping for tires and thinking I will do dedicated snows on the stock rims. Limited choices, but looking between the Nokian, Blizzak and Pirelli. Any experience with those on this truck I would love to hear! Did more of an off-road tire on the Disco, but more limited in size with these. If you have a good all weather tire you like that does well in snow I'd listen to that too!
Only thing that I need to fix right now is the passenger side in dash cup holder that doesn't stay in. Other future plans include an easier iPod integration (the aux input in back is silly), new summer wheels (want a rover wheel no crazy aftermarket and no bigger than 20, would love to see some pics) and maybe replacing the head unit with something with better phone integration and a back up camera (for the Mrs.)
Look forward to chatting and hopefully contributing to the forum!

Looks nice - if your going to tow a lot and be in the snow, you might swap hitches for the newer version which sits up a little higher, but that is probably low on the to-do list.

How about Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires - they now come in the 255/55/19 size and I am about to put a set on our Range Rover.

Very nice looking; congrats. I run Nokian Hakkas...the R2 SUV variety. They are amazing. I have had them in snow many times (up to about 2 feet) and they did better than my MT/Rs...until it got really deep. After that they still did good...just not MT/R-good.

I took the LR3 to the Yukon Territory last March and drove on the Hakkas the entire 1700 miles back. Snow, ice, slush, rain....unflappable.

Thank you all! Finding tires was a pain. Settled on a set of Goodyear Ultra Grip Snows. Was more of a performance snow tire which I like. A bit better road feel, less noise and much better dry performance. A tad of a trade off in snow, but still way ahead of all seasons. I have run real performance type snows on my Audis and been great (Dunlop M3's and 3d's). I was going to grab the Nokian but everyone was a couple weeks out. Should have ordered them a week ago when I saw them for $666 for 4 shipped but I snoozed...
I will likely pick up another set of wheels for the summer with summer tires. I want a Landy wheel but not sure which. Could pick up the same set for a few hundred bucks. Saves on mounting. Would love a set of 20" from something, but 19 is fine. I love one of the Evoke wheels. In retrospect I should have found stock 18's and used them as winters. More sidewall and cheaper/easier to find tires. Just wasn't thinking of it at the time!
As far as the hitch I will tow but not frequently I don't think. I tow the boat one a year to drop it in the water and once before winter to take it out. Utility trailer maybe a couple times a year too. I do like that it swings down and away, as I need every single inch in the garage. Stupid garages these days are like 4 feet shorter than they should be.

The only 19" Ultra Grip I see is 245/55/19 which has a 103 load rating. That is low for a LR3, don't be surprised if they wear pretty fast on you! Use caution if you tow anything heavy with them before you swap to summer tires.

They were 255/55/19 and I think 111 as they were XL rated. I was careful about the ratings for sure. There was a much less expensive set of Yokahama Ice Gaurd tires but they were SL rated so I didn't go with those.
