Same problem, different cause. In the past when i had a PHONE MODE problem, I had the control console reprogrammed (Christmastree of death) and that worked. This years problem is that the control wire at the base of the steering column went bad and had to be replaced (the one that allows the steering wheel to rotate and keeps contact with the control control) after the replacement, everything worked EXCEPT the radio that is stuck in PHONE MODE. I only use the radio to play my iPOD. Any ideas on how to bypass the PHONE MODE without re-programming?
