Greetings gents,
I am looking to jump into an LR3 and this would be my first Rover. I am currently in a Jeep Wrangler but need more towing capacity to get my Porsche to the track and back.

I have found an 06 HSE in my area that I am interested in. I have not seen the truck in person yet but I am looking at the CarFax and hence my questions.

The CarFax shows that in 2012, the lower control arms were replaced as well as the intake manifold gasket. Are there any big red flags since they had to replace the manifold gasket? I am ok with the lower control arms but am not sure if the manifold gasket points to a potential bigger issue or is this a common repair.

Having both is a good thing. The bushings on the lower control arms are a weak point on LR3s, and the gasket is probably no big deal. Is it the intake manifold gasket, or some other? If anything, to me, it shows the truck was half-way cared for. Which is more than can be said about most other trucks I've seen.

Since it will cost more than what many consider pocket change, an inspection by indy mechanic could be worth while. Full owner and service manuals in links below.

 

x2 on that one if you aren't sure what you're looking for. RSW Soutions (google it) has a pretty good website with common problems, fixes, and videos. Also, Disco3.co.uk is a great resource (in addition to this site, of course lol). Where are you located? Theres probably a forum member that knows of a reputable Indy shop near you.
