I do believe I removed the power steering pump first, so yes I think you can get to it without removing the compressor. I think I used a ratchet wrench and a ton of patience for each click.

No need to move the ac. You can get to it going over the top of the pump through the splash shield area.

Hooooooly hell. That was unpleasant, but it's done. I was unable to figure out how to get a decent angle onto the upper bracket bolt, but with the wheel removed and a little more elevation off the ground, I was able to painfully unscrew the rear pump bolts about 3ş at a time (after accidentally breaking the plastic mount for the transmission cooler hard lines), by reaching through the left side splash guard, using a ratcheting 10mm box end. If I ever have to do this again (please, no.) I'll spring for either a stubby ratcheting box end, which will be able to get more rotation in before hitting the hard lines, or I'll get some magic long-reach, low-profile electric ratchet handle that probably costs as much as having a shop do the pump for me.

Thanks all for the suggestions and photos, I would have gone nuts without your help.

Congrats! A stubby rachet or a flex head stubby would help a lot in there. I forget what combo of extensions, ujoints and flex head wrench I used to get at that upper bracket bolt
