Default Radiator Replace

Hello.. Looking to replace my radiator on my 09 LR3

advise .. issues?

Looking for a good radiator source and wondering if replacing this ends up needing transmission fluid if this touches the cooler or is is all standard coolant.?

Not too familiar with the transmission cooler and how its tied to the radiator..

Thanks!

I put the one on from Lucky 8 this summer. It seemed to be the lowest price.

A few issues:

It did not come with some of the small plastic parts that guide the air around it. It's not hard to remove them from the original and put them on the new one, just need to look at everything closely.

There was another thread recently about the Lucky 8 radiator and the top not accepting one of the plastic parts.

There is line from the transmission going into it and one coming out. It does not hold that much fluid but you want to cap off the lines during removing the old one and installing the new one. I filled it up putting transmission fluid into the in-port until it started to come out of the out-port and then reconnected the transmission lines.

All in all it's been working fine for some months now.

I just replaced mine recently, sounds like you might be talking about my issue. As keninnc said, I had problems with the one from lucky 8 accepting the air guides. I had tried the higher priced one of the two that they show but ended up returning it. They were very good about that, I always liked Lucky8 anyway. I ended up spending more for one from autohausAZ, pic is what I received from them. I have a few pictures on the other thread that show the clip part. The one I got ended up coming with metal clips as replacements on the bottom.

My mechanic also said not to worry about the little bit of transmission fluid that is lost when you change it, but I still like keninnc's suggestion to top it off straight into the radiator once it's in. The transmission line ports are on the left side in the picture.
