I initially tried a calibration with the new motor, but old module. They couldn't calibrate, thus began this whole process of a diff replacement.

Now, when I have this new module in...I suppose it stands to reason that a calibration should be tried on the basis it's a new module AND new motor.

If any component of the rear diff system is replaced, calibration is required -per the workshop manual.

This is an old thread but hoping someone can provide the menu to get to on the gap tool to calibrate. Mine has been throwing the code every few weeks, no mechanical clunking, or odd sounds and it happens only on the highway so I bought a new actuator. Before I install would like to know how to calibrate when I get there.

If you could provide step by step I’d be greatful and so would others with the gap since I haven’t been able to find on the forums and would be beneficial to others.

Much appreciated!

I'm going to be faced with this as well. I need to replace this motor which has gotten really bad lately. Also felt it lock up the rear diff while in a parking lot and as I was turning out of a parking lot I could feel it hopping a bit.

I always figured the GAP tool would have a quick and easy recalibration routine.

Is there nothing in the IIDTool Owner's Manual about this? If not, I'd contact GAP directly.

...an SE model with the HD Package; that has to be super rare!

Of course there is info in the manual about calibration, but if the actuator is damaged calibration means noting really.

As for an SE with HD, depends on the year. I would not say rare but 04/05 models are more common to be SEs with a locker as the HSE package was not as polished yet. But the locker was always an option. Last weekend I was with an LR3 that had a locker, NAV, rear climate, third row, etc.... Basically an HSE less leather and memory seating but everything else.

What do you mean less leather seating? They all have leather....

04 models? Do you mean in Europe? I guess I don't have the data on how the HD packages were distributed. My 2005 is an HSE with the locker, but I ordered it that way. I was in an enviable position, having saved my money for years and at that point being single with one kid.

That would be an interesting thread....how are different people's LR3s configured? It seems like so many of them are different. My '05 also has (only) 5 seats and no rear CC (again, ordered this way intentionally).
I'd say my '06 is more standard. It's an HSE with cold climate package, refrigerated center cubby, no locker, 3rd row, rear climate control.

Well, some have full leather and some have just two panels of leather on the seating surface with the rest being synthetic. Of course some have cloth but thats usually a Euro market. I have full real leather in mine, an HSE. Neighbor, with his SE, has full real leather in black but his new truck was synthetic mix, another SE. Really the quickest way to tell is if its cracking, breaking down. Especially where is rubs on the side of the driver seat. If its cracked there and you can see white material behind, its synthetic. No, I dont mean Europe.

Really they can be ordered any way a person wants so the combos get a little weird. HSE is just a "package" of options, nothing more. But anything that was part of an HSE package could be order on an SE. Of course the HSE package evolved and changed over the years and I think some options, mainly in the LR4, where "HSE" only options where one had to have the HSE package to add some things. My HSE is pretty standard for HSE NA spec with cold weather, HD package, cooler, etc. But no lumbar adjust/ motorized steering column adjust or factory block heater. Could really use the block heater so I have one to install someday...

My seat had a little crack on the side, but I don't recall seeing white behind it. I know that in 2008 they offered a "premium" leather package, too. There is a lid to the center console that is leather instead of plastic complete with fancy piping on the side. I ended up getting it and installing it. It's nice....

Not quite true that anything on an HSE could be ordered on the SE. For example, the stereo could not....and you could not get adaptive Xenons on the SE. You could get the HIDs, but not adaptive. Anyway, those are the two items that are inherently different as opposed to being options typically associated with SE v HSE, not sure if they could have been "ordered" on an SE per se. I would have to think that ordering these things would be cost prohibitive.

Dakota, do you have the parts for the block heater install? If you don't and want some info on what to spec, feel free to DM me. I had one installed in 2014 before going to the Yukon Territory. I can give you part numbers and a pdf on how to install.

Yeah, I was eye up that center console leather too, looks sharp. But my dog already "perforated" mine enough and I think he would do the same to a new one, even in leather.

Oh yeah, the stereo or should we say amps, cause the head units are the same but the amps are different and thus additional front door panel speakers - rear too in the D pillar. Forgot. I have seen two SEs with adaptive. Maybe fitted later?

I have the parts, just need to get around to doing a full coolant flush then I will install it.
