Hi. Yes I cleaned this out on the weekend. Still no joy. I think I might inspect the wiring bundles that run down and to the passenger sill. This is where I discovered a lot of water when I first got the car due to , I believe , the a pillar leaking.

I'm wondering why the reset on the Diff motor cannot be achieved? Why can these faults not be cleared and why can't it be calibrated?! @abran @DakotaTravler ? ideas?

Rear Diff

  • P0810-92 (28) Clutch position control error - Component failure - performance or incorrect operation

I'd love to. Little too far . lol.

2 questions - 1) Does the electronic rear Diff module go bad? is this likely to need replacing if it cannot be reset?
2)For the diff motor itself, is it really sensitive too torque settings that may be over and above? (i.e. could this be the issue for not resetting?)

Did you replace with a used or new motor?

Rear dif module can go bad, but it’s more likely the motor.

the torque is 4 bolts that hold down the gear plate, I don’t see how that would effect the motor.

Update -

Need a new rear diff.

Apparently the pre tension has gone from the locking mechanism. Someone probably removed the locating pin at some point and it unravelled the tension that is in the assembly. Not sure how much to rebuild yet - but there you go.

Abran - may a quote on one of your diffs would be good about now

Reviving this thread as it never seems end...
  • Pretty much resigned myself that I had to replace the diff.
  • Someone suggested I try the module - cheap enough just to try. If it fixes it, much cheaper than a new diff.
so...
  • Bought a used rear diff locking module and installed
  • Didn't fix it, but the rear diff acts differently
    • I used to get a whirring from the diff motor on start up and shut down. Now it *seems* I only get the whirring it on start up. It's like it's trying to find a place or setting internally
    • The code is still there for P0806-00 (2F) Clutch position sensor - circuit range/performance, but not the others... (clutch position not learned etc.)
    • On start up once or twice the transmission issue didn't come up. Only on driving did it reappear.
I am so hoping I do not have to replace the whole thing. I just wish there were more people who knew about these things...!

Did you calibrate it? Calibration is required for swapping the motor although there is one 'brand' on eBay that says theirs does not require it.
