Default Rear Dust Shield Replacement

Started what has always been a routine 2 hour job on my 2005 LR3 (196,00 miles) - changing pads and rotors on the rear. The passenger side went well with the parking brake pads good enough for a while. The dust shield was a bit holey but adequate. On the driver's side, the dust shield has just about disintegrated to the point that the pins holding the brake shoes have disappeared and one spring clip was lodged behind the pad. It looks like a major job to replace the shield involving removing the knuckle/hub assembly and separating the assembly to replace the shield. Is this correct? While reasonably comfortable tackling this, what else should I be looking at replacing while I am into this job. An

Any tips or input would be very welcome.

You have to remove the knuckle and press out the hub.

Once pressed out you have to replace the bearing.
