Default Replacing Front Brakes

I'm replacing the front brake pads on my wife's LR3.

What size wrench is needed for this nut (click link below for picture of the nut I'm talking about)? My craftsman wrenches are too fat to fit in there. I'm going to grind one down but not sure if it is 16mm or 17mm.

I saw the thread where everyone was ranting about the crappy brakes. I wasn't too shocked when they told me at the last service that it needed front brakes (19k miles). They still have about 1/4" left. I bought new OEM pads from Atlantic British for $100. The dealer wanted $325 to do the front pads. There is only 15 months left on the lease, so we should be able to get by without doing them again.

Had to put rotors and pads all the way around on our '04 Disco. The dealer covered the rotors under warranty for some reason. The bill was still $500.

I wish I could answer your question, did you loose your factory lug wrench?

Need to know the size of the open end wrench needed to hold the nut in the picture I posted. It is the nut on the caliper slider. It has to be held while loosening the bolt that holds the caliper to the steering knuckle.

Thanks.

well i have a snap on thin wrench 17 for the front wich is what i use but you can grind down a 17 mm wrench to make it thinner to hold the nut from spinning. the rear are 15mm but a regular wrench will fit. and as far as the crappy brakes well they really arent crappy its just how you bed in the pads that effect it.
