Appreciate everyones comments. My wife unfortunately just experienced an event where our 2010 LR4 accelerated without control and the brakes were completely stiff. She had to make a split second decision and intentionally ditch the car. She crashed the left side to avoid harming/killing our daughter who was passenger. She hit a rock wall travelling 70mph plus. Luckily both my wife and daughter were not killed (and nobody else injured/killed) but she had over 13 fractures and required full orthopedic rebuild of her left arm and left leg. Hopefully she will be able to walk normally in one year. It was terrifying for my daughter to see her mom suspended on top of her with multiple bones sticking out of her leg and bleeding enough to receive transfusion in the field. Seems like these reports are popping up more and more. I had the car rev at 7500rpm plus about 4-5 years ago and the brakes were super stiff. I could not turn the car off for at least 10 minutes. Everything was checked out and it was "normal". No recurrent problems until April fools day 2024. This happened in curvy road in Austin Texas and I noticed a lot of Texans on this forum. Let me know if you have any insight into this. THANKS!

My advice to anyone on here with issues like this: DITCH THE CAR!!! Buy a jeep or something else, anything.

Sorry to hear about the incident with your wife and the LR4. I had thought about the clock spring after that post you made, but did not follow up on the wiring diagram as I got busy on other repairs of my LR3 (go figure).

Anyway, I wonder if you can remove the cruise control from the CCF and see if you still have the issue. Of course you will not have cruise control for a while but it is a no cost diagnostic test.

Best of luck
Jeff

Thankfully both are ok, i wouldn't be so quick the blame the entire fleet of discos. Cant say i have ever heard of this in a landrover before apart from the occasional runaway diesel in earlier models.
Definitely would not buy a Jeep.

I am also now seeing a DTC P0579-00 (Cruise Control Multi-Function Input A Circuit Range/Performance) on my GAP tool so I'll be going down this path soon, seems like I have a serious health issue to deal with first. Am not looking forward to removing the airbag and pulling the steering wheel but it is cheaper and easier than replacing the ECU. Unseasonably warm here this past week, plus 12 C (54 F) at the end of January!
Airbag removal is quite easy and i'm about to remove it again due to some issues with my audio switches which weren't fixed after replacing the clock spring.

Well, once again I experienced this problem but this time I had my GAP OBDII Tool connected and set to live values-engine for the accelerator pedal (%) and the throttle body (%). While making a low speed right turn with my foot on the brake pedal the accelerator pedal position readings were between 15 & 18% when the throttle position shot up to about 70%, so getting closer to finding out what's happening. It is obvious that something electrical is causing the throttle position motor to operate so there must be a wiring problem, I just need some better eyes to get a handle on it, so when I finally find and fix it, I'll post...

The saga continues, the only way the throttle motor operates is if voltage/current is supplied by the ECM or there is a wiring problem so I have used my GAP IIDTool to disable the cruise (speed) control (via instrument panel menu), we'll see how that works out...

Hello same thing happened to my wife which almost killed her and my daughter.

I am going to rally support for the SUA and seeking class action law suit. I dont really care about the money as much as trying to prevent future danger to drivers!!!
