I paid like $107 for my dryer. Sometimes replacing just the beads doesn't work, because they come apart and plug the filters inside the dryer. I'm glad it's working for you.

Default Frustrated

So my fix only worked for one day. I noticed that the white filters on each end of the dryer tank were damp. I used a hair dryer without heat on them to try to dry them out a bit. When I blew air onto them it didn't seem like much air was getting through. I'm really wondering if these filters may be the problem now. Anybody have advise on if I can locate new filters? When I start my LR3 the compressor runs for 1-2 minutes and ten the fault warning comes on. I tried the reset whit the steering wheel thing that I read on here but it didn't work.
Little side note though, low tire sensor was going off all the time after I bought new wheels and tires and this reset fixed that issue. TPS where reused and verified to be in working order.
Back to the issue at hand. I talked to my local Rover shop in Portland OR and he said most I these repairs are only band aids and then eventually I will have to upgrade the compressor to the tune of $1200 with the reflash. I really don't want to spend that kind of money and I'm trying to fix the problem before I fry my factory compressor. Please let me know if anyone can help. I don't have much money to spend on this because I need to buy new rotors and pads soon. Please Help!

You'll definitely have to replace the entire compressor if you keep dicking around with BS solutions. You should've just done the kit the first time instead of just the dessicant. It worked for me a few years back and it's worked for many others of us on this forum.

...and at the end of the day, the AMK is supposedly an upgrade so all isn't lost if you have to bite the bullet and upgrade. $1200 is lost....but consider it an investment.

I think what I will do in the future is something like this:

Land Rover Discovery 3 Master Air Compressor Piston Seal & Air Dryer Repair Kit | eBay

They have other, cheaper kits as well, but this one includes a new, stronger dryer cap (this is often a point of failure as the OEM drier cap tends to crack), desiccant, new filters, and a rebuild kit for the compressor. I know you just purchased new desiccant, but you might want to consider something like this as it should address pretty much all areas of concern.

The dryer is no longer a service part from LR(or any distributor that I can find) and the PN now supersedes to the AMK compressor. So seems like the two options are going to be rebuilding the dryer, or replacing the unit.

I really need some help. I purchased the new filter kit for my air drier and I still get the fault. My compressor runs for about 30 seconds and then throws the fault. I know everyone says just bite the bullet and buy the upgraded compressor but I don't have the cash for that. I just installed new wheel bearings, rotors and pads. I also just bought my wife a new car.
It would be useful if anyone could give me ideas as to what to test to narrow down the problem. Any advise is much appreciated.

Have you tried spraying some soapy water on your compressor while it is running? That can help identify if you have an air leak.

Also, I take it that part of the new filter kit includes new desiccant material? With time the desiccant retains moisture and starts to crumble.

I replaced the dessicant first and that didn't work so I ordered the kit that has the filters and the desiccant. It's still kicking the fault after 30 sec or so. Would it throw the error if there was a small leak somewhere? I watched a video on YouTube about disconnecting my fuse to the air system and letting y LR3 sit. It says this allows you to see if air is escaping in one of the struts or through the air valve. I guess I need to do the soap and water thing on my compressor and work my way through the system. Any ideas if I should order the rebuild kit for my compressor? I know everyone on here is probably thinking that I should just pony up the $1200 and purchase the AMK compressor but I'm limited on funds. Unless someone wants to buy me an early Christmas pressent. 😃
