Tires Plus Comedy of Errors
nevill, kinda hard to be sympathetic about this; unless you know and trust someone who works at one of these places, you should know better. They only have poorly paid, poorly trained help doing high volume work. Unfortunate, but that's the way it is. Find an independent specialist with a good reputation, or get yourself an alignment rack and tire machine.
Happy New Year Everybody,
Just wanted to report back - Issue was finally resolved over the weekend. Yes, it took a while, but I'm not surprised. I know from the beginning that I would need to be polite and professional, but also persistent. It was fun to drive around in a new Nissan Armada for a few weeks, but I'm very happy to have the LR3 back. The new Lower Control Arms have clearly made a huge difference. Very smooth ride, with zero knocks and bumps. Probably drives just as nicely, and perhaps better then, when I picked it up a few years ago with about 80,000 miles. It's at about 125,000 at this point.
By the way, glad I fitted an oil pan heating pad and a battery blanket a couple of years ago - Makes a huge difference when starting the vehicle in these cold temperatures, and I'm assuming it's definitely less stress on the engine.
When the weather warms up, my next planned project is to replace the Rear Driver Side Wheel Bearing and Hub. From the research that I have done, this can apparently be quite a challenge, but I think I have the necessary tools, parts and information.
Thanks again to everybody who has provided help and advice on this forum - My New Year's Resolution is to be more 'active' in this respect, in 2018.
