Tranny not shifting quite as smoothly as it used to
Unseenone is correct. LR tells you lifetime or 150,000 miles to help market the vehicle. However the people that actually designed, built and tested the transmission recommend the fluid to be serviced around 60,000 miles.
The filter is integrated into the pan, which is services as an assembly. Not doing the filter in my opinion is just plain lazy or cheap. Thats like changing motor oil and not replacing the engine filter. Those pans leak, sealing sleeves leak and you will get more fluid out if you pull the pan anyway.
The metal pan and seperate filter can be found on the BMW X5, I'm sure if you search, you will find the exact year and engine combo to get the correct one, because not all X5s have a ZF and not all X5 ZFs are the 6HP.

ZF6HP26 6R60 Oil Pan Kit All Metal Complete BMW Jaguar Ford Lincoln | eBay
I just bought one of those, I'll let you know how it goes. Before I bought it, I did ask the seller if it would work and he had to check with the manufacturer. He told me they said it would work on my application (2006 LR3 V8).
Thanks for the tip. I would prefer to stick with the genuine parts from ZF. There is no specifications, etc. If you were going to make an aftermarket, that is worth purchasing aside from ZF, a 1 quart larger capacity pan would be great... There is no mention as to who / where this is made.
I don't want substitute quality for price on my vehicle. I'm not badmouthing it.. just how I feel about it.
It would be great to have a review as well as a comparison to the Genuine ZF..

The eBay seller said that the supplier was alto, which is a US based transmission parts supplier. I don't know if the parts are us made. I'll let you know when it shows up.
I'll also try to remember to post some photos.

Hi guys, looking for some assistance on a recent problem. Three weeks ago I had my independent land rover mechanic change out my transmission fluid. I've been going to him for a few years now. He's done solid work for me, as far as I know. Two weeks ago I noticed that I was losing power steering fluid indicated by this week when I was turning. I have been filling the reservoir to the tune of about 2 ounces per week for Two weeks now. This morning I went to get an oil change at a typical chain and they told me that the diff had quite a bit of fluid on it they suggested a leak in the diff or a transmission leak. Given the circumstances, any chances the power steering system is the culprit ? Of course I could no get more info out of the oil change guy Does that system even come near the diff ? Reservoir is right, pump is left. I don't know.
