Trans Service Turned into Gearbox Fault
Hello everyone,
First time posting anything here. I have used so much of the info from these forums to fix problems over the years but have never posted but I have found myself at loss recently.
I have recently had some transmission issues that had me park the LR3 in my driveway. After a few months l decided to embark down the road of servicing the trans. I bought the pan with the filter separate for easy install. Replaced the sleeves, replaced the electronic sleeve, fallowed all refill procedures with ZF transmission fluid. After the initial service the transmission had no fault. I thought the problems had been alleviated. fast-forward a few months i had decided to start it up and clean it all out and when i started the rover it had gearbox fault with the F displayed where the gear would normally be. I moved it over and after troubleshooting decided to drain it and check everything inside to ensure i didn't miss anything. When i went to drain the fluid i opened the fill valve first and fluid poured out. i thought it was bizarre as i ensured i only filled until about one drip per second as advised. Everything looked as it should inside. i put everything back together and the error persists. now i am unable to get it to enter park. i adjusted the linkage and manually move selector and nothing. It wont come out of drive. and as soon as key is turned fault is displayed. I am wondering if this is related to the Mechatronic unit or if i am just drastically missing something.
Any help would be appreciated. I am normally not one to ask for help but I cant bring myself to just move on and leave the Discovery the way it is.
I do have several other codes. Recently replaced compressor and lines and have a suspension fault code related to the exhaust valve not opening.
I also have codes that say the dynamic stability control unit is not communicating.
The transmission fault is a fault from a different node. not sure what that means.
I need to get a IID Gap tool i just havent had the 600$ to throw at it.

First, it would be good if you posted the codes you’ve got related to the transmission.
Second, based on your description it is slightly unclear how you changed transmission fluid and in particular how you determined that it was filled up properly. One gets really funky errors if the transmission is under filled, too. Did you measure or approximate how much you got out versus how much you filled it up with?
Regarding linkage there is a kit to fix that if it’s rusted but I guess that’s probably not it as it wouldn’t have broken so suddenly.
Perhaps this link with the official procedure would help you out https://aftermarket.zf.com/app/contr...505690da53.pdf

The fill/level plug is below the cold level line so its normal for more fluid to come out when its cold. Level is checked with engine running at approx 35c so if you filled it cold and not running then its about 2.5 litres short.
