Default Transmission hard shift diagnosis

So today I got in my shop a land rover with a transmission hard shift and he was willing to pay for the disagnosis. Since there are so many with this problem I decided to post my findings on my blog with pics of course and share it with the forums.

Check out my link: Land Rover Help!: 6HP26 Transmission Codes: P0780, P0781, P0782, P0783, P0784 and P0829

Best of luck!

A: Didn't see what the actual fix was for your particular vehicle. Replaced Mechatronics???

B: You skipped a step. Most Mechatronics failures are due to solenoid issues. If the blue solenoids have turned green, its about time for some new solenoids. The fact that they turn green is merely based on the fact that age and lack of maintenance often fades the color. When the conditions are right for the plastic to fade, the internals are in similarly in poor condition. Replacement solenoids are 1/2 the price of a replacement Mechatronics.

I understand what you are saying about the solenoids but in my experience (as a Land Rover mechanic i've seen quite a few of these) the problem with these valve bodies is mainly the computer which is subjected to the transmission fluid. The reason that I didn't mention the solenoid fix (which I haven't seen one to be fixed this way even though I hear it every once in a while on the internet) is because taking out your valve body and replacing the solenoid, which for a good one is a 100$ part each (it has six total right) and putting it all back together with fluid and everything is about the price of the valve body re-manufactured by some companies around here. But point taken. In this particular car one of the clutches was worn and the owner due to some other headaches the car was causing decided to decided to follow my advice on a flush and filter and software upgrade which did indeed help, but not completely fixed the problem, but enough to trade it in for a new one. The car would drive fine for a couple of miles while the fluid was cold but would start jerking as it warmed up (the tranny fluid not the engine) so parking next to the dealer the day before and trade it in the next day... slick

Point taken I won't say you are wrong I just don't think it's worth it. I'll make sure to make a note of that on the article. Thanks for the input!
